Winners 2009

We are proud to present the Winners of the Green Furniture Award 2009! We have received contributions of such high quality that we would like to award not only a first, second and third prize, but also two awards of honor. The Award Ceremony was held at the Stockholm Furniture Fair 2009. The Winning contributions are shown below: 


1st Prize: ‘Be Inspired, easy chair by Manolo Bossi.

An excellent example of ’Outstanding Sustainable Design’, giving a modern and interesting shape using a combination of natural materials and new recycled and recyclable materials. A piece of furniture with qualities of becoming a classic!

2nd Prize: ‘Hump’ sofa system by Liv Andersson

A flexible and simple yet expressive series for public indoor environments. Hump uses cushions of hemp textile filled with hemp or linen fiber, all grown locally. Hemp makes one of the strongest natural fibers, grows quickly and without pesticides or fertilizers.

3rd Prize: ‘Fiction’ bookshelf by Johanna Landin

Plane and flat wooden parts, smartly and stably joined only by the weight of its content, and that it expresses its idea clearly through the design. The flatness not only making a flat package, but also enabling durable water based UV-hardening paint.

Award of Honor: ‘Palneo’ by Charlotte Sörensen & Henrik Asbjørn Larsen

A fresh design on a classic theme, with locally grown ash wood, using classic craftsmanship and strength properties.

Award of Honor: ‘Medusa’ by Magnus Sangild

In between art and industry, the Medusa stool is a humoristic piece of solid wood garnished with wool – natural materials and a shape close to nature.
